Where am I, in my house or in my office?

trabajar.jpgOne of the greatest advantages that comes with been a freelance designer is the simple fact that you can stay home and work. Saying good-bye to the traffic jams, you won’t have to wake up 2 hours before your shift, you could even take a nap along with many other commodities you could have by working at home.

Collis, from Freelance Switch, is presenting us a couple of thing that happened to him before he could split his house from his work

There is no separation between your work and your house:
There is no clear difference between “I’m home” or “I’m in my office”. Because maybe you’ll wake up a certain week-end, when you were supposed to be free. And then you find yourself in the necessity of working in a pending project that you were having.

Working in ungodly hours:
Before, I had to work in “normal” hours. Now,  generally I work until late at night. Like you can read in the original article, one can even take the mornings off if you want to do so, and then you can do a little reposition on Sundays. In certain moments it’s just fair to do a little sacrifice, but in other cases, we don’t even realize what we’re doing. We actually don’t have a clear definition of what is to work in your house or to work in your office.

You’re always in the very same spot:
Unless you have to run a couple erins, you’ll stay all day long in the very same spot. It’s like been in a prison, because you’re there all the time.

I agree with many of the things expressed in the original article, if you’re not careful and you don’t regulate yourself, it can become an issue. As we know in order to succeed in the Freelance world, discipline is a top priority.
