photoshoptips Tips for Adobe Photoshop CS4

John Nack and Bryan O’neil Hughes is Product Manager of Adobe Photoshop tips and more for us to know more about the management of the CS4 version.

1 .- bird’s eye view (also known as: Goodbye navigation)
Photoshop CS4 leverages the power of your graphics card (GPU) to allow views and approaches fast and smooth. If you are working with documents in high resolution, try making an approach, then hold down the H key while you click and hold your mouse. You’ll see that Photoshop instantly (and temporarily) for a distance to show the entire document. Then you can change position, using the small rectangle under the cursor in the form of hand to see what will be on display when you release the mouse button. It is difficult to explain in writing, but it is very interesting and powerful in practice.

2 .- SKIP TO ANOTHER OF A TOOL
If you tend to change their tools through the keyboard, known to jump temporarily to some other tools has always been possible. Keep pressing the space bar displays the zoom tool, for example, and you are going to release the tool you were using before. CS4 takes this concept to a new level, allowing you to jump at any time to any other tool by pressing and then releasing the shortcut to another tool. For example, to jump from the Brush tool with the new Rotate View tool, just hold down “R”, then click and drag to rotate the canvas, then release the “R” to return to the Brush tool. The technique is easier to use than to describe, and even saves one click at a time, try adding the total number of clicks you can save a project.

3 .- LAYERS COURT SET AUTOMATICALLY
You may need to use non-destructive color adjustments, but prefers that the settings are applied to a single layer instead of all the layers below. It has always been “cut” layers of adjustment to deal with the layers one by one, but now you can do it automatically by default. Click on the icon of “multi-cycle” in the lower right corner of the Settings panel to set the new layers you want to cut automatically.

4 .- NO DESTRUCTIVE CHANGES OF PERSPECTIVE
Smart Objects are a great way to scale, rotate and transform a non-destructive layer. Prior to CS4, but it was not possible to apply a transformation of perspective that way. With the new release, you can select a Smart Object, then go to Free Transform mode and simply hold the key Cmd / Ctrl while dragging the corner and takes the object. If you change your mind later, you can return to the Free Transform mode and continue editing the perspective you want.

5 .- MAKE A LAYER ON A POST CARD IN 3D
In addition to Smart Objects, Photoshop Extended offers another way to implement changes in perspective on a non-destructive: select any layer or layers, then choose 3D-> Convert to 3D Postcard. Photoshop will make a map layer in a “postcard” 2D. Then you can use different tools for manipulating 3D objects (K) and camera tools (N) to change the orientation and appearance of the layer. You can also try to add light through the panel 3D: an interesting technique that can be used even when not using the transformation of perspective.

6 .- 3D: FIND AREAS “painted”
Photoshop uses a model-based paint project, which means that it is necessary to position the 3D object parallel to the screen in order to paint it properly. The Preset setting (in the 3D panel) will show the position and the ideal resolution to be his model for applying paint. In this mode, the white areas indicate an optimal and red indicates a low ideal positioning. Paint Selection option (in the 3D menu) select the areas that are in the ideal position for painting.

7 .- 3D: LAYERS that hide AUTOMATICALLY
To improve performance when interacting with 3D objects, you can turn on this option to enable drawing directly on the screen (enabled by OGL). This temporarily hides all layers above the layer 3D while you interact with the 3D object.
