Many people might come to think that designing online is the best thing in the world, because there are not limitations. Big mistake! In fact, “limitations” are the most common problem that happens when designing online.
Not playing by the rules
If we don’t state from the very beginning the rules of the game, everyone will be doing as they please. This is why we have to pre-establish the size of the site. The amount of pages, pictures, etc. Remember to have it written down so everybody remembers it.
The customer doesn’t have all the material he/she wants to place online
Don’t take a project without all your material already clear. You can give a couple advices here and there. If you don’t have all the material to build the web page, you’ll customer will start remembering things and things and more things to add to the site. How are you going to charge this then?
Designing for an insecure customer
You are the expert here, keep that always in mind. If the client is doubtful on what are the things he/she wants to add to the site. It’d be good to show to the customer some of your previous works and designs. You could even show him some of the sites from the competitors so the customer can form a more clear idea.
