Many people think that since they already know Illustrator and Photoshop and they have a major in Graphic Designing, they already know how to design for online pages. This is not entirely true. Because online designing is completely different from paper designing. It’s like a chef and a regular person. They both know how to cook, but each one will be doing something different, with different efficiency and quality.
The same thing applies for the world of designing. You don’t only need to learn to use programs, you also need other technical experiences: like programming, image resolution, etc.
Now that you have read this, you know the first step: Understanding that both are different.
My advise for you would be to keep on trying and to remember that you’re about to discover a whole new world. You’ll have greater challenges, but also greater experience. Have an open mind for new things, it’s like learning a new language. Just remember, nothing’s impossible.
You’ve probably already seen pretty looking sites in Flash. That would not be your best point of start, for first for the basics: HTML and CSS. Why? Because it’s the most fundamental thing on the web. You’ll learn to join all the elements, and it’s going to be a great base to learn a new language. And by the way, have fun!

Assuming you already have everything you need to create your own magazine. Things like photos, icons, logos, content, etc. We would only need to create our own brochure. But you might be wondering, what programs do you need to develop a magazine?
I can recommend you a few:
To diagram your magazine, you can use Adobe InDesign like Quark Express. You’ll save a lot of time, because you can use a master sheet with the magazine characteristics. Like the font type for all the titles, colors, diagramming, etc.
For photo arragement and retouching, Adobe Photoshop like Adobe Firework. The first one here is a very powerful tool for image editing, but some people rather use Firework, even though it has limited options. Everything will depend on your needs. For vectorized pictures, my favorite choice would be Adobe Illustrator. A program that has proven to be the best of them all.

No matter if you are a designer, a developer, o a person who just loves fonts. You’ll find in Fawn a nice place to download them… mm… well, the place which is going to guide you to the place to download it. Fawnt collects the best fonts on the world wide web. The fonts aren’t divided into categories, because the author doesn’t consider it necessarily. But Fawnt shows you the way the font looks like.
If you are a newbie in the Graphic Design world, some of the terms that your professors use might sounds weird or funny, and you might not understand them. Thanks to Graphic Glossary you’ll be able to learn alot of graphic terms. Some of them have their translations into French, Germany, Spanish, etc. You might be able to browse the site by using the alphabetic list, or doing a quick search. In the right hand of the site you’ll bea ble to find all the topics.
