5 designing principals

Bokardo.com is presenting an article about the 5 designing principals. I will just publish the points I think are the most important, but I advise you to go to their web page to read the entire article.

Technology helping mankind
Keep in mind all the time that you job as a designer is to make the client’s life easier, avoiding any type of frustration. Remember this when you’re about to do a new design or any of it’s applications.

A design is not art
I think this is a little polemic, because many people really think that a design is art… and other not. As far as i’m concerned, I agree with what Bokardo.com states, because since art is a personal expression that is about life and emotions, it’s up to the individuals appreciation to consider it art or not.

The design has an use. It’s useless to design something without a purpose.

Beyond the user’s experience
The design has to be functional without taking in consideration the level of experience provided by the user. This is the reason why we must be innovative and creative.

The good designs are invisible
This reminds me about a publicity concept. Almost no one spends too much time advertising a good product; nonetheless, if the product is not good, everybody knows it. The same thing happens with designing, when the design is good, no one thinks in all the effort or time it took the designer to make it like that. But when it’s bad, everyone remembers.

Simplicity
It’s been said before, when designing, less is more.
