10 serious lies to cheat graphic designers
As I was surfing around on the web, I found myself with this site Expressions.com.do, in which I’ve found a very good and important article for both new designers as well as for not so newbies like me, trying everyday to improve and keeping Freelance a way of living.
Right here I’ve listed the 10 most dangerous lies that trap designers, and also how to avoid them.
- “Do this job here for a very low price (or free) and then the next one we’ll pay you really well.” –Don’t expect that next time.
- “We do not pay a single penny until we see the final work.” –Don’t even start it.
- “Do your designs for us for free, and you’ll have tons of clients asking for you.” –They are really bad clients that will only dish your professionalism.
- “Well, we’re not sure if we’re going to use your designs, but leave us your idea and suggestion so I can discuss with my partner about it”. –Most-likely this “partner” will tear your design apart, or he’ll simple ignore it.
- “The job is not cancelled, we’re just suffering from a little delay. Leave your project the way it is and we’ll resume within a couple of months” –Or maybe three or four or forever?
- “Contracts? We do not need you to sign any contract, ¿aren’t we friends? –Well, if you really trust me, pay me Cash On Delivery.
- “Send me the invoice once the job is done and printed?”. –Yeah, sure, if it’s for publicity, don’t send them anything until they sold a couple thousand units.
- “The last designer made XXX per unit, you should do at least the same!” –Well, if he/she was so good, why is he/she not here anymore?.
- “Our budget is XXX dollars, that’s never going to change” –Just like my morgage.
- “We have a few financial problems. Do the design, we’ll earn the money and then we’ll pay you”. –You’ll be having lots of trouble.
